My biggest complaint about this product is that everything connects by using the round double-sided black and gray couplers. There is joining of any bricks... everything uses the couplers. There are no traditional bricks in this kit what-so-ever. While the kit is compatible with regular Lego's, it doesn't use any and there are NO "nubs" anywhere. My guess is they did that to get around patent issues. Everything is joined by those gray and black couplers, which kind of makes building this not fun at all. It says 426 pieces but probably 300 of those pieces are couplers. The RC mechanism works okay, but you should understand it is cheap. No proportionate steering or speed control. Just forwards, backwards, full left, full right, straight. Also transmitter has no on-off switch, so if something gets laid on top of it, it's likely to push a stick and drain the 3 AAA batteries. Some of the steps are really difficult / impossible for a 6 year old. Heck, they were difficult for me, and I'm 45 and a computer scientist with an engineering background who has designed and built Disney-quality animatronics - and these steps challenged me.My 11 year old got this for Christmas and he loves it! A nice challenge to.put together and seems sturdy when driving it around. My only complaint is I got my 10 year old a similar car and they can't be used at the same time (the remotes will end up controlling both cars).This was such a great gift! Our nephew tore open the package and got right to work. Fairly easy to assemble mechanically, but he needed our help to decide what goes where (he’s 10). Not finished when we left for the day, so we are excited for the final product. It looked good though and we had fun so far.It was a gift for my grandson. Once he figured out how to turn it on it was great. Only downside was that we thought it would be easy to shift from one car to the other. We didn't realize you have to do a whole new build. But I will definitely buy more of these.
